APEX AGE: ANTIQUITY

When most people think of the classical world, they imagine Rome. From humble beginnings, it grew to span three continents, assimilating the wealth and cultures of those it conquered. During the Republic, ad-hoc statecraft and meritocracy spawned fierce competition, spurring the professionalization of military and bureaucracy of the Empire. But cracks turned to chasms, and a foundering economy and repeated invasions brought Rome to collapse.

Twelve Tables: Increased Culture in Districts in the Capital and City Centers in Towns (further increased in Modern Age). Gain a free Infantry Unit in new Towns that you found.

    • Tier 1, Antiquity Age (Apex): Increased Culture on Diplomacy and Military Buildings. Army Commanders gain the Bulwark Promotion for free.

    • Tier 1, Antiquity Age (Apex): Increased Food and Culture in Towns, doubled in Fort Towns.
    • Tier 2, Exploration Age: Bonuses are doubled again in Distant Lands.

Legatus: Unique Commander. Can gain the ability to create a new Settlement after a set number of Promotions.

Legion: Unique Infantry Unit. Gains increased Combat Strength for every Roman Tradition in the Government.

Associated Wonder 

Colosseum: Increased Culture. Increased Happiness in Quarters in this City. Must be placed adjacent to a District. Rome receives increased Production toward constructing this Wonder.
