APEX AGE: ANTIQUITY

The African coast of the Red Sea was the domain of Aksum, named by the prophet Mani as one of the four key powers of the ancient world. For most of the first millennium CE, Aksumite merchants bore ivory, gold, spices and other goods from the African interior to India, Persia, and the Mediterranean. Yet these trade routes planted the seeds of Aksum’s fall – when the Arab caliphates took over the Silk Road, Aksum was isolated and fell into decline.

Increased Trade Route limit with other civilizations, and all civilizations have increased Trade Route limit with you. Trade Routes to or from your Settlements have unlimited range.

Unique Infrastructure

Hawelt: Unique Improvement. Increased Gold. Increased Culture for adjacent Wonders and other Hawilti. Ageless. Does not remove Warehouse bonuses on a tile. Must be placed on an existing Improvement in Flat Terrain.

Unique Civilian Unit 

Tankwa: Unique Trade Ship. Cannot be pillaged. Increased Sight.

Unique Military Unit 

Dhow: Unique Naval Unit. Increased Combat Strength on Coast. Can cross borders of other Civilizations, and has a set number of charges to create a naval Trade Route.

Associated Wonder 

Great Stele: Increased Production. Gain a set amount of Gold per Age when you complete a Wonder, including this one. Must be built on a Flat tile. Aksum receives increased Production toward constructing this Wonder.
