Join the Firaxis Feature Workshop!
We have always cared deeply about player feedback, and since launch, it has helped guide every update for Civ VII. Many of the features we're exploring next come directly from your requests, and we want to make sure we get them right.
The Firaxis Feature Workshop is a new community-focused, collaborative space to gather early input directly from our community on in-development game features. We're inviting a select number of dedicated fans to share their feedback earlier than ever!
Detailed instructions for how to participate in the Workshop are outlined below. If selected, you'll help provide feedback on features currently in development and directly share your thoughts with the team. Starting with Civilization VII, we're looking forward to hearing from you and continuing to build timeless strategy games together!
Of course, even while taking this unique opportunity to work even closer with one smaller group, we will continue listening to and ingesting community feedback from all sources. A significant number of the updates already made to Civ VII are results of players making their voices heard, and we want to keep ensuring all of those same perspectives continue to be heard outside of the workshop while we refine this game and others in the future.

What's Being Workshopped for CIVILIZATION VII?
As we shift into a slower patch cadence over the holidays, we are looking to use this time to test upcoming features that we're very excited about. Some of these elements we're eager to receive your feedback on are changes to Legacy Paths and Victories, and a new (optional) way to play as the same civ through the Ages!
To that end, civ-switching is an important part of the game and isn’t going anywhere. We also recognize that many players want to play as the same civ through an entire campaign. We’re currently working on ways to achieve this that also ensure playing as the same civ in all Ages is viable, fun, and interesting. We’re excited to test these overhauled features out in this collaborative program, and your feedback will be an important part of helping us achieve those goals.
While we evolve these key systems, our focus remains on strengthening the experience of Civilization VII while retaining its unique identity within the Civilization franchise. We can't wait to bring that vision into reality and build something we all believe in, together.
How Can I Participate?
STEP 1
Community members interested in participating in the Firaxis Feature Workshop can fill out our player-interest form. The survey deadline for our current round is November 17. If you miss the cutoff to submit, don't worry, there will be more chances to join in the future.
STEP 2
Once you've submitted, your answers will be reviewed and, if selected, our team will reach out about completing the onboarding process.
STEP 3
Community members who are chosen to participate in this first round of the Firaxis Feature Workshop will be sent a link to join the initiative's private Discord before the play session begins. From there, you'll have the opportunity to help provide feedback on new features directly to the Firaxis developers!
FAQs
How many people will get to participate?
Our goal is to include as many participants as we’re reasonably able to accommodate. We are excited about the opportunity to grow the FFW over successive rounds, inviting more players as we do.
Why is this limited to only some players?
Keeping the Workshop limited helps us manage the group so we can focus on testing features and collecting feedback in a structured way. Additionally, please note that this program will be fully conducted in English only. We may open this up to more players in the future, but for now this approach helps us learn, iterate, and ensure the best experience for everyone involved!
Is this a paid opportunity?
The Firaxis Feature Workshop is an unpaid opportunity. FFW is free to participate in and does not receive or require any payment.
Is it for Steam only? Can I participate using other platforms?
Firaxis Feature Workshop is currently Steam-only on PC and Mac.
What if I miss the submission entry window?
That's okay! We intend to offer additional, future opportunities to invite new participants to sign up and join the Firaxis Feature Workshop.
Do I have to be on Discord to participate?
Yes, at this time, players must have a Discord account to participate. We’ll use Discord to share updates, host discussions, and connect directly with players.
Is this only for Civ VII?
For the time being, the Firaxis Feature Workshop will be focused on Civilization VII updates. We have no further plans to announce at this time.
When will this start? When can I start testing and providing feedback?
We are not yet ready to announce the start date of the first round, but can confirm it will not begin until 2026.
Do I get anything for joining?
By joining, you’ll get early access to upcoming features, the chance to provide feedback that helps shape Civ VII, and opportunities to directly interact with the development team.
Will this take a lot of time? What am I committing to?
It is currently our plan for each round of the Workshop to last about one week, though that timing is subject to change. We'll ask players to share their thoughts on early builds via a short survey, written feedback, and occasional Q&A sessions. While there’s no mandatory time commitment, your input helps shape the game and is very appreciated!
What kind of info will you be gathering?
The main information we're looking to gather is related to player feedback on the playable content, as well as telemetry data that provides insights into how players engage with the game. That said, all FFW participants will be required to create a 2K account if they do not already have one. For more information on 2K accounts and how we handle data, see 2K’s Privacy Policy.
